Once the pain kicked in without my arthritis meds, I started fronting the band mostly without my guitar. I Tom Sawyer'd my friend Pete Zest into playing lead guitar. I had a crazy idea to do a live album like the Ramones did.
I bribed a few sound guys to record our sets at Berlin, Tierney's, Prototype 239, and maybe others. They were alright. A lot of rage. some confidence, a touch of confusion, a hint of growing pains. Sad on them for a while.
Once the band's lineup changed I found myself revisiting them to learn the songs, dropping out everything but the drums to practice the songs on bass at Chris's live tempos. Dude is a different animal live. Ran a little tape. Slapped a little bass. A little rhythm guitar. I don't know any "Live" album that's really live besides Chemical-X and Misfits Evil Live.
Also I jumped off the wagon for just one second... Over at The Oakley in Nutley, they were excited about a bottle of whiskey with some old barrel from 1868 mixed in somewhere along the way... don't get to try that cowboy stuff every day.
BHAKTA 1868. If I never have another drink again for the rest of my life, and that was the one to have. I'm back on the wagon. Nice to know moderation is possible. Here's a very angrly sung version of Sober Days.
I feel so much less enraged these days. We're chillin dude.
