Happy Gilmore was always in the VCR for the better part of four or five formative years, my siblings and I loved it. When Netflix announced a sequel I had low expectations but it tells a compelling story. It's not a rehash of the first movie, it pulls a page from the Dodgeball book of screenwriting. Without spoiling too much, Shooter McGavin is the best part. A lot of the old faces, a lot of new faces. Props to Benny Safdie. If I had one complaint, it's the constant callbacks that edit in the relevant scene from the first movie but it's fine for context's sake. All in all, it was better than I thought it would be.
Afterward I hit Dairy Queen, a cemetery, and Mikayla's Thriftique in Rutherford. Books, DVDs, records, clothes, furniture. Every time I visit Social Club Records or Casanos, I stop by Mikayla's and snag some odds and ends. I've never left empty handed. Also, my buddy got some hot wheels.
